In 2002, while earning an associates degree in Civil Engineering, I started working for a new construction general contractor in an entry level position sweeping, cleaning, and general site clean up. I quickly took an interest in finish carpentry and became a carpenter's assistant within the first year. It didn't take long to realize how much I loved carpentry and decided I wanted to make a career of it. Over the next several years I became the lead finish carpenter and oversaw many aspects of general construction from start to finish.
In 2008 I received my Class A Contractors License and started a small custom trim and renovation business on the side while working full time as an assistant superintendent on a large multi-dwelling condo project.
I started Modern Oak Construction in 2013 with a renewed focus on new construction, renovations, and quality finish carpentry. Starting out in construction on the ground floor has taught me to focus on the details through the entire process from start to finish. This mindset is how I approach every one of my projects and has become a concept that carries through in my work.
